Phungling, Taplejung: The Sherpa community in Taplejung’s mountainous region held a solidarity rally in Phungling to promote peace and prosperity.
Participants, dressed in traditional Sherpa attire, marched in a procession starting from Virendra Chowk and circled the Tokme hill monastery. The event, known as Gumba Parikrama, is a significant religious tradition for the Sherpa community, believed to foster peace, harmony, and positive energy.
The rally was co-organized by the Himalayan Sherpa Cultural Centre Taplejung and the Sherpa Media Group Nepal District Branch. The event coincided with Shing Mo Dul Lo Galpo Losar, the 2152nd national festival of Buddhist pilgrimages, and was marked by a special cultural program featuring traditional dances, songs, music, and performances.
