KATHMANDU: Ramu Shrestha, the head of the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Bharatpur distribution center, has been assaulted.
An unidentified group attacked the center’s chief Shrestha inside his office this morning, alleging that objectionable words were posted about Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on the center’s digital display board.
The board displayed the message “KP Chor Desh Chod”, leading to outrage among UML cadres, according to NEA officials.
In response, a group of 35/40 people entered the distribution center, beat up the office manager, and vandalized the office.
Computers, tables and other items were broken in the attack. The employees have issued a joint statement condemning the incident.
