DHAKA: Md. Abusalah Sakender, Assistant Professor of Jagannath University has released his sixth book entitled The Nature of the Global Nation State.
One of the leading publication houses of Bangladesh, Soummo Prokashani published this book on 19 February 2025 at Amar Ekushey Book Fair organized by the Bangla Academy. Author dedicated this book to memory of his teacher Robin Bellers (Former Senior Lecture in Central European University Center for Academic Writing), who passed away in 2023.
This book focuses on Chaos, Global NGO Regime, Sovereignty and Nation State as well as Religion and Nation-state. Additionally, this book answered the questions of “does a State need a strong military? and “is India a Nation-state?” However, debates on whether or not Pakistan ruled over Bangladesh as a colonial ruler or whether Maududi secularized Islam or radicalized Islam shaped this book in a new direction. A comparative view between Global history vs. Comparative History and Mughal Empire vs. British Empire is another vital issue of this book.
Author of the book, Md. Abusalah Sakender is a well-known researcher and columnist. He works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Islamic History and Culture of Jagannath University. He graduated with an MA in Comparative History with Specialization in Religious Studies from Central European University (Hungary) in 2018. He was an ISGAP-Oxford Summer School Scholar-in-Residence. He also served as a Student Body Representative for the CEU Student Union (2017–18). In 2025, the 1947 Partition Archive recognized him as a Citizen Historian.
