10 athletes from 10 different sports have been selected for the Summer Olympics to be held in Paris, France in 2024. These athletes were selected by the Nepal Olympic Committee on the recommendation of the relevant sports association. It has been approved by the International Olympic Committee. The goal of the scholarship will be to qualify for the Olympics.
The selected players are Sanyog Kapali in table tennis (individual), Payish Yonjan in fencing (saber), Nasir Yaha Hussain in swimming (200m freestyle), Prince Dahal in badminton (individual), Manita Shrestha Pradhan in judo (under 56 kg), Sushmita Nepal of shooting. (10m air rifle), Taekwondo's Unisia Rai (under 49 kg), Dance Sports' Deepak Lama (B Bowing), Golf's Subhash Tamang (individual), and Weightlifting's Sagar Bhandari (under 109 kg).
Under the scholarship, each athlete will receive $750 per month and this will continue until the final selection for the Olympics. The scholarship will be maintained until the Olympic competition for those who are successful in the selection. The money provided by the Olympic Committee will be spent on training, international participation, sports materials, insurance, health examination, and all other procedures required for preparation.
The International Olympic Committee has started providing this type of scholarship since the 2004 Athens Olympics.
