Bimal Gharti Magar, once Nepal Football’s Golden Boy, after a rather tumultuous past couple of years has returned to Nepali Football. Having scored some of Nepal Football's most historic goals, Bimal’s winner as a mere 15 year old against Pakistan, thrust him into the limelight as the next big thing in the country.
A naturally talented, flair striker Bimal due to disciplinary and injury reasons had a long hiatus from the football scene before returning to score the winner in what was the nation’s first ever victory against an African nation. Bimal on the sidelines after a major injury, underwent surgery in Qatar and returned after 9 months out to play his first international game.
Playing for Machhindra Club in the A Division League, Bimal picked up form playing for the club before putting in a man of the match performance against Mauritius. Before this Bimal’s career was rife with unfortunate circumstances that put him away from football. When playing in the Belgian Youth leagues, Bimal learnt of the death of his sister, to which he put his Belgian playing career on hold to return to Nepal. He also picked up major injuries on his ligament and knees that put him out of a consistent run in any team he played for.
Now that the star-man finds himself back in the team, fans can only hope for a consistent run that is sure to elevate the level of Nepali Football in years to come.
