Deepak Bishta, President of the Nepal National and International Athletes' Association, has won the post of President of the Nepal Olympians Association by a majority in today's election.
He defeated Rabiraj Thapa, who entered the boxing ring at the 1980 Olympics in the then Soviet Union. Taekwondo player Bista was selected to compete in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. He is the second Nepali athlete to compete in the Olympics.
Taekwondo player Sangina Baidhya had competed in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece for the first time. She was elected unopposed as the Vice President of the Olympian Association.
