'Chief of Army Staff Open Marathon' championship is to be held on February 26 on the occasion of Army Day and Maha Shivaratri.
Different marathon categories have been included in the championship to be held under the slogan 'Sports for Entertainment: Unity, Collective Sentiments and Capability'.
At a news conference organized by Nepal Army, Army Physical Training and Sports Centre today, Centre Chief Colonel Munal Basnet said that 42.195km men's marathon and 21km half marathon is going to be organized.
A 10km race at the participation of army officers and army men and women as well as five-kilometer walkathon will also be organized.
First, second and third winner of the marathon would get Rs 300,000, Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively.
Similarly, first, second and third winner of half marathon would bag Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 35,000 respectively.
Sisik Automobiles Pvt Ltd would present Yamaha motorcycle to the winner of marathon while the Kathmandu metropolitan City would present scooter to winner female runner of half-marathon.
