Efforts of volunteer coach for international medals

Coach Kabiraj Negi Lama, who has been giving Taekwondo training to players with different physical conditions, has said that he will dedicate himself to the development of Taekwondo by being more committed in the future.

After receiving the certificate of 6 Dan, the highest degree of Taekwondo, he said that he saw the good potential of Nepali para athletes and that they need proper training.

It took him 6 years to get this certificate. For this, besides showing the game, the exam should also be given. He wrote a thesis on the situation of Para Taekwondo in Nepal.

Coach Lama has been working as a volunteer coach since 2015. He said that even though he had no financial benefit, he was satisfied with the international medals won by the players he taught.

He is busy in training every day. He says that while training players with different physical conditions, the role of parents should also be played along with training.

Under his training, Palesha Goverdhan defeated America and Serbia in the 2020 Para Olympics. She lost to the Chinese player by a small margin.

She won the gold medal at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain last December.

 Coach Lama said that his goal is to get a medal in Para Taekwondo at the Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China next October.

Palesha Goverdhan, who brought Nepal an international medal in Para Taekwondo, is competing in the Asian Youth Games. She is going to study engineering in China and from there she will participate in Para Asian Games. The Nepal Taekwondo Association is planning to participate in the Para Asian Games with Shrijana Ghising and Ram Bahadur Adhikari. But both those players are currently in Australia. Nepal Taekwondo Association is trying to contact them. Their parents have been informed that they will have to pay for their participation in the Para Asian Games in China.

Shrijana won the gold medal at the World Para Taekwondo Grand Prix in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia by defeating the world champion athletes. She also won silver medals at the WT President's Cup and the Asian Youth Games. 

Asian Games which will held for Asian athletes with disability in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China from 22 to 28 October 2023.
