Nepal has entered the semi-finals of the SAFF U-20 Football Championship as the group winner.
Nepal defeated Bangladesh 2-1 in today’s match at ANFA ground in Satdobato, Lalitpur. Despite losing, Bangladesh reached the semi-finals by becoming the runners-up of Group A.
Nepal and Bangladesh made it to the semi-finals one game before.
Nepal won both games in the group and scored 6 points. Bangladesh added three points.
Sameer Tamang and Neerajan Dhami scored goals for Nepal today.
Mirzul Islam scored 1 goal for Bangladesh.
Nepal took the lead in the 17th minute through Sameer’s goal. Two minutes later, Neerajan managed to double Nepal’s lead by scoring a goal.
Then, in the 43rd minute, Bangladesh’s Islam tried to bring the team back to the game by scoring a penalty.
Apart from Pakistan, 6 teams are participating in the tournament, India, Maldives and Bhutan are in Group ‘B’. India is the winning team in the previous three editions.
