Nepal loses by one run in ODI series against Afghanistan U-19

KATHMANDU: Nepal has lost consecutively in the ODI series against Afghanistan U-19 team.

In the second match played today, the Nepali U-19 team lost to Afghanistan by one run. With this, Afghanistan has won the series against Nepal one match ahead of schedule. Earlier, Nepal had lost to Afghanistan by 130 runs in the first match.

After winning the toss at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, Afghanistan scored 168 runs after losing all their wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Chasing a target of 169 runs, Nepal could only score 167 runs after losing all their wickets in 49.3 overs. For Nepal, Sahil Patel contributed the most with 64 runs off 119 balls with the help of 6 fours. Similarly, Abhishek Tiwari scored 20, Neeraj Kumar Yadav scored 15 and captain Naren Bhatt scored 13 runs.

For Afghanistan, Wahidullah Zadran, Zaitullah Shaheen and Hafiz Zadran took two wickets each, while Rohullah Arab, captain Mahbub Khan and Uzairullah Niazai took one wicket each.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat, captain Mahbub Khan contributed the most with 58 runs in 114 balls with the help of a four. Similarly, Rohullah Arab scored 27, Uzairullah Niazai 19, Nazifullah Amiri 16, Khatir Stanikzai 11 and Khalid Ahmadzai 10 runs.

For Nepal, Santosh Yadav took three wickets, Sibrin Shrestha and Bipin Prasad Sharma took two wickets each, and Abhishek Tiwari took one wicket. The last match of the series will be played on Chaitra 10.
