Nepalese tennis player Sunira Thapa won silver on Friday in Circuit-1 of World Tennis Tour Junior, GR5 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
In the girls’ singles final at the Sheikh Jamal National Tennis Complex in Dhaka, Sunira lost to India’s Elina Farid 6-3, 6-0 and was limited to silver.
27 players participated in the tournament organized by the Bangladesh Tennis Association. Sunira got a bye in the first round and entered the pre-quarterfinals.
Sunira, who defeated India’s Garugutti Venela Reddy 7-5 and 7-6 in the pre-quarterfinals, defeated India’s Princi Mandagalla 6-4 and 6-4 in the quarterfinals. In the semi-finals, Sunira registered a comfortable 6-3 and 6-0 victory over India’s Devansi Gohil and made it to the finals.
