Apart from him, there are only 10 batters who have achieved this milestone. Root is also the fastest player to reach the 11,000-run mark. It is possible that Root will soon be in the top 5 players with the most runs in test matches. However, there are many legends he has to beat.

The master blaster has set the branch mark so high that it seems impossible for any batter to break it. He has 15,921 runs in test cricket with an average of 53.78. He has played 200 matches with the highest knock of an unbeaten 248.

Ricky Ponting (13,378 runs)

Australia's greatest batter Ricky Ponting is the second-highest run-getter. He has scored 13,378 runs in 168 matches. He has an average of 51.85 in his test career. 

Jacques Kallis (13,289 runs)

The Greatest all-rounder Jacques Kallis has scored 13,289 runs in his test career. He has an impressive average of 55.37. He has played 166 Test matches for South Africa.
