Prime Minister’s Cup Cricket: Police sets Army a target of 149 runs

RUPANDEHI: Nepal Police Club has set a target of 149 runs for Tribhuvan Army Club in the last day’s match of the league stage of the Prime Minister’s Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament.

Police, who were invited to bat first after losing the toss at the Extra tech Oval Cricket Ground in Rupandehi, scored 148 runs in 41.4 overs, losing all their wickets. Captain Dipendra Singh Airi scored the highest score of 50 runs for Police with the help of three fours and two sixes in 37 balls. Similarly, Arif Shesh scored 22 runs and Gulshan Jha scored 17 runs.

In the bowling department, Sahab Alam of Tribhuvan Army Club took four wickets, while Naren Saud took three, and Kushal Malla and Bhim Sarki took one wicket each.

Police, which has played eight matches, has reached the finals while remaining undefeated and at the top of the tournament. Army, which has played eight matches, has reached the final with second place, winning seven of them.

Whichever group loses today’s match will not have any impact on the final equation. The final competition for the title will be held between these two groups at the Siddhartha Cricket Stadium in Bhairahawa on Chaitra 16.
