SAAF Championship: Nepal to face Sri Lanka today

Nepal is playing its second match of the 13th edition of the SAAF Championship Football in Maldives on Monday. Nepal will face Sri Lanka today at the National Football Stadium in Male. The match between Nepal and Sri Lanka will start at 9:45 pm. Nepal wants to beat Sri Lanka for the second consecutive victory.

Nepali team captain and goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong has said that they will play for three points against Sri Lanka. "We will play for three points against Sri Lanka. Even before the game against Maldives, it was said that we are Gorkhali. So, we will fight for 90 minutes to win, "said Captain Kiran.

However, Sri Lanka is a strong team will not be easy for Nepal to win. "The game against Sri Lanka will be challenging. It will not be easy. We expect to score at least one point against Sri Lanka,” said head coach Abdullah Almutairi. “I know Sri Lankan players are aggressive in tackles but, we will take advantage of their aggressive play, " he adds.

In the first match, Nepal defeated the previous winner and host Maldives 1-0. Manish Dangi scored the decisive goal to give victory to Nepal. Nepal is at the top with three points.

Sri Lanka is also planning to win for the first time. Sri Lanka was defeated in the first match. India and Bangladesh will also compete on Monday. The match between India and Bangladesh will start at 4:45 pm.
