Passengers are in trouble as the hill highway, which was blocked due to snowfall, has still not come into operation. Vehicles have not been able to ply on the road since February 1.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganesh Bahadur Shrestha of the District Police Office informed that up to five feet of snow had frozen on the road. It is said that there is no possibility of immediate removal of the snow. At present, domestic tourists go to Rupgaon to play in the snow.
Passengers traveling from Rukum (East), Rukum (West), Rolpa to Pokhara and Kathmandu via Baglung have been facing problems due to the blockage of the highway. Some have said that the passengers have to travel long distances through Salyan, Dang and Butwal. The Lakum-Patihalna section of the highway is blocked due to snowfall at this time of the year.
The Shahid marg (Martyrs' Road) is also blocked due to the snowfall. Citizens of Puthauttar-ganga village municipality have been facing difficulty in getting to the district headquarters Rukumkot due to heavy snowfall in the Rika section of the road. Police said that the frozen snow on the road will take some time to be removed.
