Regular paragliding has begun in Surkhet Valley from today. Welcome Paragliding Company is preparing to fly to Birendranagar Municipality-14 Bayalkanda and Ward No. 1 Deuti Than.

Director of the company Padma Bahadur Shahi said that the company has already obtained operating permission from the Civil Aviation Authority. The authority has given one-year flight permission to Welcome Paragliding Company, the royal chief operator. Operator Shahi said that world-renowned paragliding pilot Sanubabu Sunuwar would fly the flight, adding that a fee of Rs 3,500 per person has been fixed.

There are various offers for those who come in groups. A group of five will only have to pay Rs 3,200 each, a group of 10 must pay Rs 2,800 and groups bigger than 10 must pay only Rs 2,500 for a paragliding flight. Apart from the flight fee, those who want to take photos and videos will have to pay an additional Rs 1,000. In paragliding, you can fly for 20 minutes at a time.

Although a test flight was conducted in Surkhet in 2013, regular paragliding operation was not possible. Now, the operating company has stated that it will provide regular services. Welcome Paragliding Company in partnership with Babu Adventure of Pokhara has brought 12 pilots to Surkhet for the flights.

According to Shahi, the service has been launched with the objective of promoting adventure tourism in Karnali. "We had tried for paragliding in Surkhet earlier as well. But due to the lack of skilled manpower, we could not operate it regularly back then," he said.
