Even though Nepal has achieved significant progress in air safety according to world standards, the European Union (EU) has still not removed Nepal from the air safety list.

EU has kept Nepal's aviation sector on the air safety list for 10 years. Experts believe that there is no reason for the EU to keep Nepal on the flight safety list since Nepal has made significant improvements in air safety.

Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane, joint secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, said that since Nepal's air safety rate is world-class, there is no point in keeping it on the flight safety list.

Joint Secretary Lamichhane, who is also the head of the Ministry's Civil Aviation Division, expressed his belief that Nepal will soon be removed from the EU's flight safety list as Nepal's flight safety rate is above the world average.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, efforts are being made to lift the ban with the EU due to the progress made by Nepal in air safety. ICAO's recent audit has shown that significant progress has been made in Nepal's aviation sector. In the flight safety audit, the world's average flight safety rate is 67 and the Asia Pacific rate is 63 percent. For the first time in the history of air travel, Nepal has scored 70.1 percent. According to the authority, Nepal's performance in air safety and regulation is the average score in Asia and the world.

Since 2013, EU has put Nepal on the flight safety list, showing security concerns over Nepal's airspace. In 2013, it was removed from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) list of Serious Security Concerns (SSC).

According to ICAO standards, Nepal's air safety has improved significantly. The state has also increased investment for the security and strengthening of services in this area.
