Minimum temperature dips to 4.8 degrees celsius

KATHMANDU: The temperature of the Kathmandu Valley that had increased in the recent past has again dipped to 4.8 degree Celsius on Saturday.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley started going down from Friday due to a high pressure system formed in the atmosphere.

The Kathmandu Valley recorded 21.5 degree Celsius of the maximum temperature on Friday but the maximum temperature remained 20.5 degree Celsius on Saturday.

On January 22, the maximum temperature of the Kathmandu Valley was 24.6 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature was recorded 6.2 degree Celsius.

Meteorologist at the Department Saroj Pudasaini said that the temperature has gradually decreased compared to the past few days. However, the temperature is above the normal one, he added.

Now the temperature has decreased compared to the past few days, as the high pressure system formed in the atmosphere has shifted from there, Meteorologist Pudasaini said adding that the temperature will remain almost the same for some more days.

He shared that the weather remains warm in the high pressure system while it will be cold in the low pressure system.

Pudasaini further said that upcoming three days will have the impacts of cold wave, thick fog and mist in the Tarai region but the system will not result in rain and snowfall.

Likewise, the temperature in the other districts out of the Kathmandu Valley has also decreased compared to the past few days.
