KATHMANDU: The remand hearing of former DIG Chabilal Joshi, a defendant in the savings fraud case of the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative was postponed due to an incomplete debate on his bail application.

A hearing was held in the bench of Judge Thakur Prasad Kharel regarding Joshi, who appeared in the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday.

After the closed-door hearing was not completed on Sunday, Judge Kharel ordered Joshi to be handed over to the police. With this, Joshi has been taken into custody at the District Police Complex in Bhadrakali, Kathmandu.

Joshi, a partner of Ravi Lamichhane and Gitendra Babu Rai (GB) in the Gorkha Media Network, was earlier released on bail of Rs 8.8 million in the savings fraud case of the Pokhara-based Surya Darshan Cooperative.

After Kaski District Court Judge Nitij Rai released Joshi on bail of Rs 8.8 million, he appeared for the case in Kathmandu.

An order will now be issued to send Joshi to pre-trial or set a date for his case, which was delayed in the Kathmandu District Court.

Earlier, Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane, who was released from Kaski along with him after paying a bail of 6.5 million, has been released from the Kathmandu District Court after paying a bail of 60.

Another case was registered against Rabi in the District Court in Rupandehi on Sunday. In Rupandehi, both Rabi and Chhabi have been made defendants in cooperative fraud and organized crime. A case has been filed against Rabi, fixing a fine of more than 40 million.
