JUMLA: This year, the district of Jumla produced 20,511 metric tonnes of apples. Out of this total, farmers and suppliers exported approximately 9,400 metric tonnes.
According to the Agriculture Development Office in Jumla, these apples were cultivated on 4,250 hectares of land. Balakram Devkota, the Office Chief, reported that all eight local municipalities in the district generated apple sales amounting to Rs 614.1 million.
He noted that the apples were transported to other districts via air and road. A total of 74 metric tonnes were shipped to other cities by plane.
Devkota mentioned that 837 traders were involved in supplying apples from Jumla, and local farmers sold their apples at an average price of Rs 60 per kilogram.
