Fire service will expand in KMC: Mayor Shah

Kathmandu Metropolitan City Chief Balendra Shah (Balen) has said that the fire service will be expanded in Kathmandu. Chief Shah said this while handing over the key to the new fire engine to the Disaster Management Department of the Metropolitan Municipality today.

German company Ziegler Indonesia Company has purchased a fire engine at a price of 72.1 million rupees excluding tax. The fire engine has the capacity to draw and dump 3,000 liters of water per minute. Similarly, they can shoot water fountains up to 60 meters away. At the same time, they can throw water with pressure from 4 discharge lines and draw water from 2 suction lines.


The fire engine, which has a tank of 3,000 liters of water and 500 liters of foam, can mix the foam with the water itself. 8 meters long and 2.5 meters wide fire extinguishers can extinguish domestic, petroleum, and gas fires.

The metropolitan now has 5 fire engines in operation, 2 of which can work at full capacity and 3 of which can be used for support. Similarly, Ramhiti station has one full-capacity fire engine and one fire engine that can be used for support.

Likewise, there are 2 ladders, one 30 meters long and one 25 meters long, a truck, and a jeep for rescue, and a van, and a jeep to transport the manpower. Similarly, 5 fire motorcycles are in operation.

There is a water tanker to add water to the dam and 5 pumps to draw water.
