Garbage has not been picked up in Kathmandu valley for weeks after the locals of Sisdol were not allowed to dump garbage. Newly elected mayor Balendra Shah has twice reached the dumping site to solve this problem.
He has also met high level leaders including the Prime Minister while taking initiative to pick up garbage. However, they have yet to reach a solution.
An initiative has been taken to solve the problem of waste management by picking up the garbage piled up in the ward no. 16 including Thamel. Ward Chairperson Mukunda Rijal himself has come to the road for short-term management of garbage at Kaldhara and Sasha Gate starting from Sorhakhatte Chowk. Assistance in this work has been provided by the Kathmandu Metropolitan Environment Department and others.
