Mukunda Rijal of Nepali Congress has been elected as the chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16.
Rijal won the post for the second term by getting 4,019 votes in the counting of votes. He had been the chairman of the same ward before.
His rival Laxmi Tuladhar of the CPN (UML) polled 3,310 votes. Similarly, the CPN (UML) candidate has won in four seats. A total of 12,308 votes were cast in that ward.
Kathmandu-16 includes Sohrakhutte, Vanasthali, Balaju, Mhaipi, Machhapokhari and other areas. Ward chairperson Vijayi Rijal is also the regional president of Nepali Congress Constituency No. 7.
