Comedian Apoorwa Kshitiz Singh, who was arrested on August 28 has been released by the police.
The comedian was arrested as a number of complaints were filed against him for making derogatory jokes about the Newari culture and tradition in his shows.
Ganga Paudel, chief of the District Attorney’s office Kathmandu, said Singh has been released without bail as he tested positive for COVID 19.
“He has been released without bail in consultation with police as he is infected with COVID,” said Paudel.
Singh, who was in custody at the District Police Range, Teku, was admitted to Bir Hospital on Tuesday after his health deteriorated.
