Bisket Jatra, a famous cultural festival of Tokha, the northern outskirt of the Kathmandu Valley, is underway. The unique festival formally began on the first day of the Nepali month of Baisakh. Starting on the first day of the Nepali New Year, Baisakh 1, the four-day event sees a cart with a god and a goddess, Ganesha and Kumari respectively, being pulled through the town. However, unlike the Bisket Jatra celebrated in Bhaktapur, there is no tradition of tongue piercing in Tokha.
