On the occasion of Biscuit Jatra, locals of Madhyapurthimika have been celebrating Sutha Siya Jatra by playing Sindur with joy since this morning.

The procession has been celebrated since morning by carrying idols of various deities from the toll plaza of Madhyapurthimi and playing Sindur. In this procession, which is celebrated only in Thimi, there is a tradition of dancing with local instruments including Dhime by burning vermilion on each other, lighting lamps in hand and bringing 32 khats to Boki Balkumari.

The procession was taken out of Balkumari and Kalika i.e. Balakhu's Khat Balkumari temple this morning. Khats of Vishnuvir and Dakshin Barahi were also kept in the temple from Thursday. The procession started in the morning after bringing Siddhikali's khat and entering Balkumari with her gang. Similarly, this procession is celebrated by bringing khats of gods and goddesses including Vishnuvir and Siddhikali.

Chief of Madhyapurthimi Municipality Madan Sundar Shrestha and other people's representatives are also participating in the procession. Stating that the people of Madhyapur have been celebrating the Jatra in a grand and civil manner, Mayor Shrestha said that the Jatra has set an example by celebrating the culture and religious traditions of the place with joy.

After the procession started, the Pamaharu carried a lamp in their hands and with the permission of Nike Pradhan lifted the khat of Balkumari. He informed that the procession has been traditionally celebrated in Thimi by carrying 32 khat participants in chariots. At present, the procession is being celebrated in 23 places in Thimi, one in Nagdesh, seven in Bode, one in Tigani, Dakshin Barahi, and Nikosera.

The procession is led by the deities of Thimi's Balkumari, Dakshinbarahi, Vishnuvir, Siddhikali, Nagdish's Siddhiganesh, Bode's Mahalakshmi, and Tigani's Nilbarahi temple. There is a tradition of celebrating Chirag Bali Sutha Siya Jatra with Dhimebaja placed in the main deity Khat. When the procession reaches every chowk, intersection, house, and toll, it is customary to sprinkle vermilion on the windows, roofs, and ceilings of the house and welcome it by showering flowers.

It is also called Sindur Jatra because the local pilgrims enjoy playing Sindur with each other, playing Kanya Baja, Bhusyabaja, Dhimebaja, and turning the deities khats around. From Balkumari, traditionally, Siddhi Ganesh, Siddhikali, and their Gana along with Kwachen Dyo, Hicho Dyo, Azima Dyo, Vishnuvir, and other deities, the procession of Bal Kumari begins.

According to the tradition, there is a tradition of blocking the way at the entrance of Layku to prevent the deity Layku from entering the palace. The procession is celebrated by playing vermilion in Kwache Dey, while the people of Thimika are celebrating the procession by playing vermilion with grandeur and enthusiasm.
