More than 160 waste workers and the urban communities of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward 19 benefitted from a free health camp conducted by the Urban Health Promotion Center-19, in collaboration with Office of Ward-19, KMC Health Department, Médecins du Monde (MdM France) on Saturday.
The camp was organized through the “Health Waste Workers for Sustainable Waste Management” project which is funded and technically supported by MDM France. The health camp was stationed at Kankeshwori Temple, Kathmandu district.
Mina Shrestha, in charge of the UHPC-19, said, “We aim to ensure health access for the urban poor families, and deprived populations who are unable to afford medical treatment costs.”
Altogether 3 doctors carried out the camp with services such as free blood sugar tests, blood groupings, Video USG, ECG, general health checkups, etc. The UHPC also provided essential medicines for free.
The free health camp was attended by the program and medical team from MDM France, KMC Health Department, Ward-19 Office, elected bodies, waste workers, and the public.
