People have been without telephone service for five months as the Nepal Telecom branch in Humla has neglected the maintenance.
The Namaste telephone tower, which was damaged last December, is yet to be repaired. Citizens of most of the villages in the North Namkha Municipality and Simkot Municipality have had five months of telephone service interruption.
Sarita Shahi, a resident of Panglathum village, complained that the citizens of the area have been deprived of access to telephone service for the past five months due to the breakdown in the tower at Simkot-7 Dharapori. Due to the breakdown in Dharapori Tower, the service recipients of Simkot and some wards of Namkha have been facing problems.
Residents of Simkot's Syada, Dadamphaya, Chauganfay, Dharapori, Kholsi and Panglathum and Namkha's Hepka, Dhiga, Kermi, Khagalgaun, Gadapari and other villages are deprived of communication services due to the breakdown in Nepal Telecom's tower at Thada Dhunga Lake in Dharapori.
According to the locals, the tower in the village is not working and they have to walk for three hours to connect to a telephone service. The Namaste Tower in Simkot works only occasionally.
Mobile service has been disrupted due to a fire at a base transceiver station of Nepal Telecom in the area last November. The fire was caused by an short circuit.
