The police have arrested two people who cheated by saying that they would settle the case related to vehicular death.
56-year-old Arun Gurung of Suryagarhi Rural Municipality of Nuwakot and 37-year-old Mahesh Bhatt of Borlang, Gorkha, who cheated Suresh Maharjan with Rs 1 lakh for settling a case related to vehicular death registered in Kirtipur police circle, have been arrested and released today. According to the Spokesman of District Police Complex Kathmandu, Superintendent of Police Dineshraj Mainali, they were arrested because they demanded Rs. 3 lakh and received 1 lakh already from the victim.
After the fraud, Maharjan submitted a complaint to Kirtipur police station on August 5. The police recovered Rs 1 lakh in cash and three mobile phones from the arrested. The police are investigating the arrested person for the offense committing fraud according to paragraph-21 of 249 of the Criminal Code Act, 2074, with an extension of five days from the Kathmandu District Court.
