A Secretariat meeting of the CPN (Unified Socialist) has demanded legal action against those involved in fake Bhutanese refugees scam.
The meeting held at party headquarters, Aloknagar, determined that the scam involving high-level political leaders and bureaucrats was financial irregularities as well as human trafficking, said General-Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal.
Urging the government to remain alert as activities to influence the investigation might take place while increasing the scope of the investigation, the party drew the conclusion that democracy and justice would be weakened if effective legal and administrative action against corruption is not taken.
The meeting also suggested the government to take action against all those involved in the scam. The party called on other political parties, social organisations and media to exert pressure for fair investigation and transparent legal action as well as to the party rank and file to stand against the scam.
