President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has appointed Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the prime minister of the country. The constitutional bench of the Supreme Court that had been hearing the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives had issued a verdict on Monday directing the reinstatement of the House and appointment of Deuba as prime minister.
The Supreme Court had issued an order for Deuba to be appointed as prime minister by 5 pm today. Based on that directive Deuba was appointed today to the post of prime minister, informed Bhesh Raj Adhikari, Chief Personal Secretary to President Bhandari.
Deuba will be taking the oath of office and secrecy at 6 pm today.
