Residents of Beni Municipality-2 Bagarphant of Myagdi are frustrated that the drinking water problem is not solved. Due to the recent rains, floods, and landslides in Maruwa, Upallo Khanna, and Bankhe Chaharo have washed away the wells and pipelines and 208 households have been facing acute problems with drinking water.
Meanwhile, residents of Bagarphat have been forced to drink water from rivers and wells for the past two months after the pipes were damaged due to floods caused by incessant rains.
Tek Bahadur Karki of Beni-2 Bagarphant said that the residents were forced to boil the murky water of the Kunwa and Myagdi rivers due to the lack of water in 28 streams in the village. There are 214 households in the area. In 2012, water was brought from the Kopre river, Bhakimli river, and Jamarukkot river and was distributed in 28 streams of Bagarphant. The Bagarphant Drinking Water and Sanitation Project completed the project for Rs. 5.4 million and provided drinking water facility to the village.
According to Krishna Bahadur Karki, chairman of the project, the pipeline and springs have to be repaired this year due to floods and landslides during the rainy season.
Although there are more than half a dozen water sources including Apre, Udaino, Mulchhahari, and Koprezharna in the river Myagdi and Shiran at the bottom of the village, the residents have been facing drinking water problems for years due to the inability of resources to manage those water sources.
