The quake affected hilly districts of the far-western region including Baitadi. According to Tirtha Raj Dahal, technical assistant at the Seismological Center, Surkhet, the quake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck at 10:18 am this morning. The epicenter was reported 30 kilometers west of Darchula in India.
The quake affected Baitadi, Darchula, Bajhang and Dadeldhura districts in the far west. Police said that no damage has been reported from the quake so far. Earlier, a 4.1 magnitude earthquake had also hit the far western Sanpasela on April 19.
