EC submits presidential election report to Prez Bhandari

The Election Commission submitted the report, including the result of the presidential election, to President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday. The election for the new President was held on Thursday.

The report was submitted to the President at her office, Shitalniwas as per Article 62 of the Constitution, and Section 60 of the Act on Election of the President and Vice President, 2074. Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya submitted the report to President Bhandari amidst a function.

A senior leader of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Poudel, was elected President on Thursday. In the election, Paudel collected 33,802 votes while his contender Subash Nemwang got 15,518 votes.

On the occasion, President Bhandari thanked EC, political parties, employees, security agencies, and all others concerned for making the election free, fair, and transparent.

Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya briefed the President on the management, process, and result of the presidential election.

The program was attended by the Election Commissioners and high-level officials at EC.

The term of incumbent President Bhandari is expiring after two days.
