Jumla has won the Karnali province-level folk song and dance competition. Jumla's Sirina Bhakri and Savina Budhapa won the 'Single Folk Song' and 'Single Folk Dance' competitions under the Karnali Province School Level Student Talent Competition organized by the Karnali Government, Ministry of Social Development, Education Development Directorate on Friday.
Both the first place winners also won cash prize of Rs. 21,000 each along with medals, said Choreographer Kulman Nepali.
Minister for Social Development Yagya Bahadur Budhakshetri said that new talents were identified through art and literature and the competition has elevated the field of folk literature in Karnali.
Acting Director of the Directorate of Education Development, Surkhet, Deepa Hamal said that the solo folk song and dance competition has given new impetus to the talents as well as the children.
Choreographer Nepali remarked that Jumla has set a new standard in the history of folk songs and dances in Karnali. The competition was attended by 20 students from every district who were selected in both disciplines.
