Karnali Corridor obstructed due to landslide in Kalikot

The road in Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality in Kalikot district, which lies in the Karnali Corridor, has been obstructed due to a landslide. The highway has been obstructed due to a landslide.

Chairperson of the rural municipality, Dambar Bahadur Shahi, informed that vehicles could not be operated along that stretch because of the dry landslide. He mentioned that the Karnali Highway had been obstructed in various sections since a week due to the landslides that have occurred as a result of the heavy rains. Now the dry landslide in Bhaurekuna section has further complicated things, he added.

The Khulalu-Humla road section in Kalikot of Karnali Corridor has been obstructed due to the landslides. Landslides have occurred in various road sections of the Karnali Corridor namely, Lalighat of Narharinath Rural Municipality-1; Bhaurekuna of Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality; Rengil; Kot; Aamtada; and Bhurabghar of Pachaljharana Rural Municipality in Kalikot.

The District Administration Office has said that Bailey bridges that had been set up in various locations had been damaged due to the landslides. Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Acharya said various road sections and many bridges had been damaged due to the landslides that have occurred as a result of the heavy rains.

He informed that efforts are being made to remove the debris along the roads but it had been difficult as the administration does not have the necessary machinery to remove the debris. Acharya said the administration would do its best to clear the debris so that vehicles can be operated soon.
