Police in Kavrepalanchok district on Thursday arrested a youth on charge of swindling Rs 15 million out of various persons aspiring to go abroad.
The arrested has been identified as Prajin Adhikari (21) of Tamaghat in Panchkhal Municipality-4 in Kavrepalanchowk, who had been residing in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10.
Adhikari on April 26 allegedly swindled a foreign job aspirant out of Rs 1.7 million after making a false promise that he would send him to Canada on a working visa and employ in a good company. The victim is a 30-year-old resident of Lalbandi Municipality-7 in Sarlahi district. According to police Adhikari went out of contact after receiving the sum of money.
During the investigation, security personnel detained Adhikari from Dahalgaun in Banepa Municipality-2 in Kavrepalanchok district.
Police also informed that Adhikari had swindled dozens of others out of Rs 15 million by making false promises of sending them to Canada.
Meanwhile, Adhikari has been sent to Metropolitan Police Sector, Kathmandu for further investigation into the case, informed the police.
