A 10-kilometer agricultural road connecting Handebhir-Bagarphant-Surkemela-Baranga to Kimchaur of Arman via Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi will be tarred sixteen years after the opening of the track.
The track was opened in 2006 AD by GC Construction Services. At present, the road has been widened and upgraded in an area of about two kilometers from Handibhir to Buddha Academy in Bagarphant. The road has been upgraded at a total cost of Rs. 5.3 million with Rs. 4.85 million from the Infrastructure Development Office, Myagdi under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure.
Chairman of the Road Users' Committee, Purna Bahadur Gurung, said that the road has been widened, sloped to the ground and new tracks have been opened in three places. According to him, a new track of 100 meters has been opened in the new bridge, 650 meters in Bahundanda and 100 meters in Thamdanda. According to the locals, the road constructed according to the road standards will prove to be a cornerstone for the development of West Myagdi.
Chairman Gurung informed that the aim is to extend this road through Beni Municipality-2 Bagarphant to Soledanda of Malika Gaonpalika-4 Okharbot of West Myagdi to Taman and Lamela of Baglung. Social worker Tirtha Bahadur Gurung said that about 20,000 people in the area would directly benefit from the road closure.
