UML wins Thasang's chairmanship

CPN-UML and Nepali Congress have won for the post of chairman and vice-chairman of Thasang village municipality of Mustang respectively. UML's Pradip Gauchan won the election with 1,144 votes. According to the Office of the Returning Officer, Somal Hirachan of the Nepali Congress won the election with 1,112 votes.

Congress candidate Bal Kumari Sherchan got 1,055 votes and UML candidate Sumita Sherpa got 1,080 votes. The president has won by 89 votes and the vice president by 32 votes.

In the last local level election, the Nepali Congress had won both the posts of Thasang's chairman and vice-chairman.Suresh Thakali of Congress in ward no. 1 of Thasang, Gautam Sherchan of UML in ward no.2, Hari Prasad Gauchan of Nepali Congress in ward no. 3, Narendra Sherchan of Nepali Congress in ward no. 4 and Rupesh Tulachan of Nepali Congress have won in ward no. 5.

There were 2,747 voters in the Thasang municipality and 2,240 votes were cast in the election held on Friday. Counting of votes in all the five local levels of Mustang has been completed. Congress, Waragung Muktikshetra, Loghekar Damodar Kund and UML have won for the post of chairman and vice-chairman of Gharpajhong village municipality respectively.
