Common Minimum Program of government made public

The ruling coalition has unveiled its common minimum program along with its priorities, including among others to immediately complete the remaining task of the peace process.

In the presence of top leaders of the coalition parties including Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', the CMP was presented at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers with priority to good governance and economic development.

The priorities of the Government as outlined in nine different points including protecting the constitution and amending as necessary, strengthening the federal democratic republic through implementation of federalism, giving equal importance to policy, structural and functional reforms to transform and strengthen the country's economy, and to put an end to existing class, ethnic, regional and gender-based differences in the society and building a social system based on equality, freedom and justice.

The ruling parties have also expressed a collective commitment to complete the remaining work of the comprehensive peace agreement, and other agreements signed following various popular movements.

Prioritizing governance reforms, corruption control and strict measures to ensure quality service delivery, the government will be working for a production-oriented economy, improvement of fair supply and distribution system.

Likewise, unnecessary expenses and administrative hassles would be wiped out while making public administration competent, reducing the risks caused by global crises such as climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental pollution, and environmental balance shall be maintained.

The government will be following an independent and balanced foreign policy for the protection of national interests and for the prosperity of the people.

The common minimum programme has been signed by Prime Minister and Chairperson of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', President of Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Chairperson of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal, President of Janata Samajwadi Party Upendra Yadav, President of Loktatantrik Samajwadi Party Mahantha Thakur, President of Samajwadi Party Dr Baburam Bhattarai, President of Janamat Party CK Raut, President of Nagarik Unmukti Party Ranjita Shrestha, President of Aam Janata Party Prabhu Sah and President of Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal Chitra Bahadur KC.
