Today's meeting of the ruling coalition parties has formed a separate committee to prepare and monitor the local elections to be held on April 12. A meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar this morning has formed an election preparation and monitoring committee under the coordination of senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel.
It is said that a committee has been formed under the leadership of leader Poudel with representatives from five parties. Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa and Communications Minister Gyanendra Karki are the members of the committee. Maoist leaders Barshaman Pun and Dev Prasad Gurung, Maoist leaders Barshaman Pun and Dev Prasad Gurung, Ashok Rai, and Renu Yadav from JSP, and Himal Puri from Rastriya Janamorcha are also members.
The structure of coordination in the local level election that is to be held on April 12 will be discussed in today's meeting. Earlier, a meeting of the coalition held on March 29 had agreed to coordinate the local elections.
In today's meeting, the leaders of the ruling coalition parties, Prime Minister and President of the Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel, Chairman of the Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Unified Socialist President Madhav Kumar Nepal and leaders including Jhala Nath Khanal and JASPA Federal Council Chairman Baburam Bhattarai were also present.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba also informed about his three-day visit to India. The meeting concluded that the Prime Minister's visit to India was a success. It is said that the meeting also decided to have extensive interaction with the political parties, economists, planners, and stakeholders on behalf of the government considering the state of the country's economy.
