Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center, Rashtriya Janamorcha, Unified Socialists and Janata Socialists have decided to go for joint local elections in the district, said Nepali Congress President Jeet Sherchan. Leader of the CPN-Unified Socialist Party, Ramji Prasad Sharma, said that a five-party meeting held today would form a high-level mechanism of 10 members at the rate of two from each party and the distribution of candidates would be decided by the same mechanism.

With the date of local elections approaching, the major political parties of Baglung have intensified their election campaign. The Nepali Congress, the ruling party in the district, has launched a door-to-door program.
Similarly, the CPN-UML and the UCPN (Maoist) have started holding rallies and corner meetings in the villages. Congress district president Jeet Sherchan said that the party has now reached the final stage of the door-to-door program. He said that the candidate would be selected after the door-to-door program. According to our slogan 'Let's go from house to house and win the Congress', the door-to-door program has reached its final stage. Chairman Sherchan said, "The candidature is being discussed in the recommendation. We are preparing to launch a village-centric campaign in the second phase soon. Now, the Congress will focus on the general assembly."
Similarly, the main opposition party CPN-UML is preparing to hold a corner meeting after meeting the people to speed up the election program. The party has completed the first phase of the election-centric campaign from tole to tole, said Chandra Prakash Sharma, head of the district's propaganda department. The first phase of house-to-house meetings, corner meetings and a public meeting has been completed. In the second phase, the district committee is preparing to hold another meeting on the election-centric campaign. According to him, the UML has a strategy to move forward by formulating criteria to be centred in the central committee district, provincial committee municipality and district committee ward.
The Maoists have also intensified their election-centric activities. City Committee Secretary Raju Khadka said that the party has moved ahead by holding a corner meeting. Similarly, the Rashtriya Janamorcha, which has a good influence in Baglung, has also given impetus to the election campaign. In Baglung, 19 parties, big and small, have registered at the District Election Office.
