A delegation of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) headed by its Executive Chairman of Dharmendra Jha today called on Chief Minister of Karnali province Raj Kumar Sharma. The meeting was held at the Chief Minister's residence in Birendranagar.
On the occasion, the RSS Chair informed the Chief Minister that the country's only state-owned news agency did not have any physical structure in the provincial capital and hence was facing problems in providing its services in the province.
He also presented a concept paper to Chief Minister Sharma on construction of the RSS' building in the provincial capital, urging the provincial government to facilitate in providing land for the construction of the RSS building.
During the meeting, CM Sharma said RSS does not have its physical properties in this region and that he was positive regarding construction of the building for the promotion and development of mass communication in the province.
Chief Minister Sharma reiterated that the provincial government is committed to making the journalism in the province more systematic and decent.
Chairman Jha said the cooperation of the provincial government was expected in implementing the proposal shedding light on the utilisation of the RSS' immovable property (buildings and land) throughout the country. He added that RSS is ready to collaborate with the provincial government in the development of decent journalism.
The RSS delegation included Board Member Krishna Adhikari, Marketing Section Chief Rajaram Karki and RSS Karnali Provincial Office Chief Sur Bahadur Singh.
Also today, the RSS team met with the Karnali Province Planning Commission Chairman Yogendra Bahadur Shahi and discussed the national news agency's institutional development and enhancement of media in the province.
In the course of discussions, Shahi said that they were positive regarding the institutional development of RSS.
