Nepali Congress lawmaker Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel has been appointed chief minister of Gandaki Province.
Chief of Gandaki Province, Sita Kumari Poudel appointed Pokharel as chief minister as per article 168 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal.
Lawmaker Pokharel had made a claim for the post of CM with the signatures of 31 Provincial Assembly members, on Friday while erstwhile Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung had also claimed for the post with the support from lawmakers of Rastriya Janamorcha and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal.
Meanwhile, the appointed CM Pokharel will have to win the vote of confidence within 30 days from the day of the appointment to the post.
