Bharat Badayar Joshi of Nepali Congress has been elected as the chief of Parashuram municipality. In the counting that ended on Tuesday, Joshi won with 5,941 votes.
His nearest rival, Sher Singh Mal Diamond of the Maoist Center, polled 5,805 votes. In the local level election of 2074 BS, Diamond was defeated by Congress candidate Bhim Bahadur Saud by 545 votes. UML's chief candidate Keshav Bohara has received only 2,606 votes.
Bimala Mahata of the UCPN (M) won with 5,885 votes while her nearest rival Kalawati Bohara of the Nepali Congress got 4,593 votes. The Maoist center is in the first place in 7 wards including wards 1, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, and 12 in the municipality which has 12 wards. Congress has won ward chairpersons in five wards including wards 2, 3, 6, 8, and 11.
