It has been found that the quality of mobile phone service in Kathmandu Valley is not good. According to the quality test report of mobile phones made public by the Nepal Telecommunication Authority, the quality of mobile services was not found. The Authority had tested the quality of mobile services of three service providers including Nepal Telecom, Ncell, and Smart Telecom.

According to NEA spokesperson Santosh Poudel, within the network of the three companies, they have tested the call time and call setup rate for 11 days from December 4 to December 7.

According to the (drive test) report, Ncell's call setting time is 6.44 seconds. The call time set by the authority should be five seconds or less. Although Ncell is ahead of the other two companies, no company has met the minimum criteria set by NEA.

Ncell has a call success rate of 96.15 percent. The success rate for establishing a call set by NEA should be 99 percent or more. The call setting time of Nepal Telecom is 9.59 seconds and the success rate of the call setting is 77.42 percent.

Smart Telecom, which has fewer users, has a call setting time of 12.17 seconds and a call success rate of 82.76 percent. The call block rate should be less than two percent, which is higher for all three service providers. On average, Ncell has eight percent, Nepal Telecom 11 percent, and Smart Telecom 28 percent.

Call disconnection rate (call drop) should be less than two percent, but Ncell has been found to have complied with the criteria. The call drop rate should be 1.18 percent on average, but Ncell has 1.18 percent. Nepal Telecom has 4.38 percent and Smart has 10 percent.

During the test, Radhikaran has collected data on the main service standard of the mobile network using continuous phone calls or data from the test equipment connected to the moving vehicle. It is said that the quality measurement of all the service providers available in one place has been done simultaneously. According to NEA, the most favorable network is automatically selected from the available network (4G / 3G / 2G) in any one location of each service provider and arranged in the device.
