Gaurika Singh, who represented Nepal in swimming at the Tokyo Olympics in Japan, has tested positive for COVID-19.
South Asian Games gold medalist took to her Instagram to share that she tested positive for Covid-19 after coming in contact with someone who had contracted the virus. She has shared that she is infected with asymptomatic COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated.
Singh has said she will remain in isolation for 10 days.
The swimmer also stressed the need to prevent the spread of the virus by wearing masks. Singh called on everyone to stay safe and thanked everyone who sent her a message.
Singh, who set a national record in the 100-metre freestyle at the Tokyo Olympics, took a flight from Tokyo to UK.
Singh has been living in London with her family since childhood. She is going to the United States for higher studies.
