Angrita’s Grandson follows in Grandpa’s footsteps

The late Angrita Sherpa has always had a niche amongst the Nepalese Mountaineering community. Having successfully climbed the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, 10 times without the use of any oxygen supplies, Angrita was given the name ‘Snow Leopard’ for his feats and natural ability in such harsh conditions.

Along with Angrita, his three sons also grew up to become successful mountaineers in their own right, the eldest having passed away after summiting Everest 9 times, while the other two hanging their boots up after reaching the summit multiple times as well.

The great mountaineering gene seems to have passed unto the third generation as well, as Tenzing Jangbo Sherpa, His grandson is soon to attempt to summit Everest in memory of his Grandfather Angrita. The 23 year old, currently studying in the US, is back in Nepal to attempt this feat, he spends his time raising funds for the expedition and has also requested the Nepalese Government to waive the 11 thousand dollar royalty levy on climbing Everest.

Sherpa previously spent two months at the Rolling Mountain having already climbed the Alungari Mountain. He has practiced rock climbing for a while in the US and is leaving soon for high altitude training. When he succeeds, he hopes that the summit will immortalize and revitalize the memory of the 'Snow Leopard' amongst Nepalese poeple all over the world.
