Gufa Pokhari, is a lake know to a very few but those that have beheld it before them have been enamored by its beauty, captured by the magnificence on display. Though the journey to the place one for the long haul, it is easily accessible through means of local buses and Land Rovers. However, the availability of these vehicles depends on the weather, during monsoon and winter, the rain and snow make the roads almost undrivable, hence buses aren't available in these season, however the jeep is available year long.
Speaking to one of the locals, Sonam Doma,says “One can easily have the access of Land Rover from Dharan but it’s hard to get the jeep when you have to return back from Gufa Pokhari since it lies in between other places of Sankhuwasabha.”
“You should at least wait for 2-3 days to get the ticket for jeep. We locals also have to go through the same problem. So, winter and monsoon season is not a favorable season to come to visit Sankhuwasabha”, she adds.
After wo-three days of sunrise, the melted snow makes the road so slippery that buses simply cannot pass by hence jeeps are used exclusively.
Similarly, Tenzin Doma Sherpa adds, “A few days ago when my parents were about to head for Kathmandu, they went through the same problem. They used to get ready in the morning and wait for the jeep without even knowing that they would get seats.”
“They waited for three days and then finally got the seats for Basantapur”, she adds. From Gufa Pokhari, one can easily go back to Kathmandu through Dharan or Basantapur.
