Local hoteliers say that the number of devotees visiting Gosaikunda by helicopter is increasing. The place has religious significance and is located at an altitude of 4,380 meters above sea level.
When walking to Gosaikunda, especially from Lauribinayak to Kunda, the problem of getting to the lake increases due to altitude sickness. As it takes three to four days to travel and the cost by foot and air travel is about the same, the passengers are more opted to helicopters nowadays.
It takes about 26 minutes to reach Gosaikunda in Helicopters from Kathmandu Airport. According to the service provider, many senior citizens have been able to visit the place. Although 20,000 devotees visit the area every year on foot to attend special fairs on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra and Janai purnima, the attraction of air travel has increased due to COVID.
